RAISE YOUR STANDARDS!
Let me ask you a few questions.
- Are you the smartest of all your friends?
- Are you the most successful of all your friends?
- Are you the most in shape of all your friends?
- Are you the fastest?
- Are you the most driven?
- The richest?
- Do you care the most?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those, you may need new friends.
Raise your standards and rise out of the ashes.
We don’t get what we want in life, we don’t get what we think in life, we get what we settle for. If we have low standards, we are ok without success or making enough money to be happy. We settle if we are in a relationship that isn’t exciting, loving, and passionate! That doesn’t mean get out of the relationship, but it may mean you need to make some changes. Take a look around and see if you have become comfortable with what you have and if you are ok with what “life has given you”. Have you lowered your standards and settled?
When you fight someone better than you, you become a better fighter! When you are always the best in the ring, you have no more challenge to grow and expand! Fight someone more skilled than you and it will raise your game.
We can be too nice!
If we are too nice, we can “nice” our way into an unhealthy life or a bad place financially. Think about it, if everyone around you eats like crap, eventually you will give in and feel bad for not joining them. If we are making more money than our friends and they are always feeling bad about being broke, we tend to feel bad about our success. We become less excited about making money. We can pretty much feel bad about growing financially. Remember the old story about the frog in boiling water? The frog will jump out of boiling water; but, if you slowly make the water hotter and hotter, the frog will stay in the boiling water. The longer we have low standards, the lower they become, and the more we are ok with settling.
Actors
Actors! Do you have that friend that anytime you tell them you booked something or that you auditioned for something, they tell you they never go in or that they haven’t booked anything in X number of years and it makes you feel bad for succeeding? Life is full of people not happy with where they are in life; but, if you don’t set standards, you can fall below that line, as well.
Challenges aren’t to discourage you, they are the best teacher you will ever meet.
