Magic City Con – TeamWest
This was Michelle and I’s first time doing any kind of Con. I have to say, though, these were my kind of weirdO’s!
We weren’t sure what to expect when we got there. If you were following my Instagram story, I think the first video you may have got was either me blending my coffee and protein shake in the bathroom or a video following an unproportionate Spiderman. Or, maybe, it was Peter Parker in a costume, who knows. I, personally, took full advantage of their gym! It also helped that I was working out at like 6 AM so no one else was in there. I may have danced like no one was looking, but you will never know.
Magic City Con in Birmingham, Alabama had over 5,000 people last year and were expecting between 7,000 to 10,000 this year. I don’t know how many people were there, but it was a lot! Some weren’t even people. I saw more pointy ears and spandex than at a Christmas parade! Anything from guys in bad ass Halo costumes to Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. Well, in our case, it was Cicel Grimes.
Michelle, myself, and the rest of the cast from Cypress Bayou (missing one or two) were there to share our trailer and get to know some of our supporters! This was a smaller of the big cons so we actually got to hang out with some of our supporters; and it was so wonderful getting to know some of them on a personal basis. It was wonderful being able to thank them in person.
Lucky Joe is the name of the character I play in the show and I can’t tell you a lot as of right now; but, hopefully, real soon you will get to meet Lucky Joe in all his glory. But I am making no promises to his manners.
You can keep up with the show on Instagram @Cbayoufandom. It is a fan page ran by some of our fans; however it will also be your best bet to find out news about the show!
Michelle and I didn’t want to feel left out; so we got a little comic book hero-ish ourselves. Enjoy.
Until next time Magic City Con!
And if you are wondering if you should go? Yes. Please do. It was a wonderful experience and everyone I met was super nice!
Initially, I wasn’t going to post this, but I just have to – www.CecilGrimesCosplay.com is just that damn good. We may have had a little bit of bromance going on.
If you don’t know what Cypress Bayou is then check out the teaser below!
But, get on, this train is heading out of the station!
